I was born in 2007. That was the year the world completely changed. Since smartphones were first launched in 2007, and lots of things changed, including our lifestyles. Have you ever thought about what it would be like to live without a smartphone? I believe it is very difficult because we depend so much on the device. Though it may feel comfortable to have a smartphone in your hand, the habit of fiddling with your phone can also be a factor in disrupting the rhythm of your life. For example, on a nice warm morning, if you have no plans, you just check your phone and play with it while lounging around in bed. You feel hungry and check the clock to find that it's already past noon. Isn't this weird? Why are our actions being dictated by our phones, which are supposed to be a useful tool? Wasn't the smartphone originally a device to enhance our lives?

Let's think about a life without a smartphone by thinking of disadvantages of using a smartphone. First of all, smartphones can be really convenient but it may be just the opposite. For example, haven't you experienced waiting for a reply and becoming worried or stressed? This would never happen if you're having a conversation face to face. In addition, we never know the other person's tone or sub-expressions. It is easy to misunderstand what they actually want to say. Without a smartphone, you have no need to worry about any of these a lot. You can just have a nice chat with your friends and that's all.

Secondly, the world connected to your phone is limitless and it may look very exciting. However, what is posted on the Internet is often the best moment for the person posting it, or it has been manipulated a lot and it is often very different from reality. Without recognizing that and comparing yourself with them may cause you to look down on yourself or feel depressed. By only staring at your phone for a whole day could spoil you and you would lose chances to enjoy your life. A life without a smartphone would give you more opportunities, for example, going out to play, having more conversations and so on. You will also have more opportunities to use your phone. It may be difficult but it may not be that bad to live without a smartphone. Maybe a life without a smartphone would tell important things to you.

Though living without a smartphone in this era could not be something possible, I believe there are many benefits to think once more on our ways to use our smartphones. It is true that a smartphone is a great tool but we would have to find the right way to use it properly, in order to enjoy our lives.
